Abstract: Maxwell McCombs, a pioneer of the agenda-setting theory, is an example of a prolific scholar who through the years has continued to research and develop in the agenda-setting theory, and who is an authoritative scholar in the area. The theory has drawn on fruits across theoretical domains, gone beyond geographical and political contexts, and become a research area that attracts journalism and communication scholars around the world over more than 30 years. In this interview, McCombs gave a broad, incisive overview for the agenda-setting theory over the years, and a long-term outlook for its growth in the future.
